Aglaonema Thai Red (also sold as Thailand Red, Valentine Aglaonema, or similar red Aglaonema varieties) is a tropical Chinese Evergreen known for its vibrant red, pink and green foliage. This ornamental plant adds bold colour to interiors and is a popular choice for homes, offices, and indoor gardens due to its attractive look and relative ease of care. Its leaves are typically lance-shaped or oval with rich red/pink tones concentrated toward the centre and green edges.
Thrives in bright, indirect light, which helps maintain its vivid colors.
Can tolerate medium to low light, though foliage colors may be less intense in lower light.
Avoid direct sun, which can scorch the leaves.
Water when the top 1–2 inches (2.5–5 cm) of soil are dry.
Keep the soil slightly moist but not waterlogged — soggy soil can lead to root rot.
In winter or cooler conditions, reduce watering frequency.
A well-draining potting mix is essential — peat moss with perlite or orchid bark is ideal.
Good drainage prevents water from collecting at the roots and avoids rot.
Repot every 2–3 years or when roots start crowding the pot.
Fertilize during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength every 4–6 weeks.
Skip or reduce feeding in fall/winter when growth slows.
Prune off any yellow, damaged, or dead leaves to keep the plant tidy and encourage new growth.
Wipe leaves gently with a damp cloth to remove dust and help the plant photosynthesize efficiently.
Regular inspection for pests (e.g., spider mites) helps catch issues early.
