Peperomia obtusifolia, commonly known as the Baby Rubber Plant or Pepper Face, is a compact, resilient perennial houseplant native to the tropical rainforests of South America, Florida, and the Caribbean. It is highly prized by indoor gardeners for its thick, waxy, spoon-shaped leaves that naturally store water. Despite its common name, it is completely unrelated to the true rubber tree (Ficus elastica). Instead, it belongs to the Piperaceae family, making it a distant relative of true black pepper.
