Phalenopsis Orchid- Miraflore (MS)

Light: Provide bright, indirect light. An east-facing window is often ideal, or a south/west window can be used if protected by a sheer curtain to avoid leaf scorch. Olive green leaves indicate correct light levels; dark green means too little, while a reddish tinge means too much.

Watering: Water thoroughly when the potting medium feels nearly dry to the touch, which is typically about once a week. Allow excess water to drain completely, and never let the pot sit in standing water, as this causes root rot. The roots turn a vibrant green when wet and silvery-white when dry.

Temperature & Humidity: They thrive in typical home temperatures, ideally between 18-24°C (65-75°F) during the day and slightly cooler at night. They prefer high humidity (50-70%), which can be maintained using a humidity tray or by grouping plants.

Potting Medium: Use a specialized, well-draining orchid potting mix, primarily composed of coarse bark or sphagnum moss, not regular soil. Repot every 1-2 years or when the mix starts to decompose.

Feeding: Feed during the growing season (spring through fall) using a balanced orchid fertilizer diluted to half strength, following the "weakly, weekly" approach. Reduce feeding in the winter.
