Philodendron sp. Colombia is a striking tropical plant known for bold, glossy, heart-shaped leaves with deep green tones and distinctive veining. Itβs a collector-favorite among philodendron enthusiasts thanks to its lush, architectural foliage and impressive presence in indoor plant collections.
Best light: Bright, indirect light, similar to the dappled sunlight found under a rainforest canopy.
Tolerates: Medium light; growth may slow if light is too low but the plant will survive.
Avoid: Direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves or cause stress.
Water when the top ~1β2 inches of soil are dry to the touch.
Keep the soil slightly moist but not soggy; standing water leads to root rot.
In lower light or cooler weather, allow the soil to dry a bit more between waterings.
Use a well-draining, airy mix such as a blend of peat-based potting soil, perlite, and orchid bark.
Ensure your pot has good drainage holes to prevent excess moisture at the roots.
Repot every 1β2 years, or when roots begin to crowd the current container.
Feed during the growing season (springβsummer) with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength every 4β6 weeks.
Reduce feeding during fall and winter when growth naturally slows.
Remove yellowing or damaged leaves to encourage healthy new growth.
Cleaning leaves with a soft, damp cloth helps improve light absorption and keep foliage vibrant.
