Monstera Peru is a tropical climbing plant prized for its thick, dark green, textured leaves that often show a quilted or corrugated pattern, giving it a unique look compared with other monsteras. It grows as a slow-to-moderate climber and can reach several feet tall indoors when supported with a moss pole or trellis. Its foliage can become very lush under good conditions.
Prefers bright, indirect light—near an east or north-facing window is ideal.
Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
It can tolerate medium light, but too little light will slow growth and make stems leggy.
Water only when the top 1–2 inches of soil are dry. This usually means about once every 7–14 days, depending on season and humidity.
Overwatering can cause root rot; never let the plant sit in waterlogged soil.
Thrives in moderate to high humidity (aim for ~50%+). You can mist the plant, use a pebble tray, or a humidifier if air is dry.
Ideal temperatures are 60–85°F (15–29°C). Avoid cold drafts and temperatures below ~55°F (13°C).
Use a well-draining, airy soil mix, such as potting soil mixed with perlite and orchid bark or coco coir.
A container with drainage holes is essential to prevent soggy soil.
