Cryptanthus Red

Cryptanthus Red is a colorful bromeliad plant. It is popular as an indoor decorative plant and also used in terrariums and dish gardens.

Key features:

• Leaf colour: Bright red, maroon, or reddish-pink (sometimes with stripes)

• Shape: Star-shaped rosette

• Height: About 10–15 cm

• Spread: Around 15–25 cm

• Growth style: Low growing and compact

Unlike many bromeliads, Cryptanthus grows directly in soil rather than holding water in a central cup.

💧 Watering

• Keep the soil slightly moist

• Water when the top layer of soil dries

• Ensure good drainage to avoid root rot

🌿 Soil Mix

Use a light and well-draining mix:

• Cocopeat

• Garden soil

• Sand or perlite

• Compost

Example mix:
40% cocopeat + 30% sand/perlite + 30% compost

🌱 Fertilizer

• Feed once a month with diluted liquid fertilizer

• Avoid strong fertilizers as bromeliads prefer light feeding

🌱 Propagation

• Produces pups (baby plants) around the base

• Separate pups when they reach 1/3 size of the mother plant

• Plant them in fresh soil
