A distinctive alocasia with long, arrow-shaped leaves that can almost appear black in colour. Another alocasia that will likely stay compact and close to the ground is the jewel alocasia. Collectors regard this alocasia, which grows only in the Philippines, as uncommon. During the growing season, keep the soil evenly moist and fertilise every month. Lots of strong light should be available, but direct sunlight should be avoided, especially during the summer's sweltering afternoon hours. Protect yourself from the cold! If the top 50% of the soil is dry, check monthly and water. Since this alocasis cannot tolerate drying out, moisture levels should be checked every 5-7 days.
