The Monstera Deliciosa 'Thai Constellation' is a highly popular, engineered cultivar famous for its stable, star-like cream and yellow variegation. Developed in a Thai tissue culture lab, its distinctive speckled pattern resembles a night sky constellation. Unlike other variegated monsteras, its genetic mutation is entirely stable, meaning it will never revert to a solid green form.
Essential Care Requirements
While more resilient than the rare Legacy mutation, the Thai Constellation still demands specific care due to its lack of chlorophyll:
- Light: Requires abundant, bright, indirect sunlight. It needs more light than a standard green Monstera to maintain its creamy colors, but direct sun will scorch the leaves.
- Soil & Drainage: Needs a chunky, highly well-draining aroid mix. Combine orchid bark, perlite, peat moss, and charcoal to prevent water from pooling around the roots.
- Watering: Allow the top 5 cm of soil to dry completely before watering again. This cultivar is notoriously prone to root rot, so err on the side of underwatering.
- Humidity & Temp: Keeps best in humidity levels between 50% and 70%. Maintain warm household temperatures between 18°C and 27°C, keeping it away from cold drafts or air conditioners.
