Cryptanthus Brown Prefers bright, indirect sunlight.
Too much direct sun can burn the leaves, while too little light can make the color fade.
Ideal spot: near a bright window with filtered light or under grow lights.
Thrives in warm conditions: 18–30°C.
Avoid cold drafts and keep away from air conditioners.
Never expose below 15°C, as cold can damage the plant.
Keep the soil slightly moist, but never soggy.
Water when the top 2–3 cm of soil feels dry.
Use filtered or rainwater if possible—Cryptanthus is sensitive to hard water.
Do not allow water to stagnate in the center rosette; pour water directly onto the soil.
Cryptanthus Brown Loves high humidity (60–80%).
Mist regularly or place near a humidifier or pebble tray.
In dry climates, humidity maintenance is essential for bright leaf colors.
Use a well-draining, airy mix.
Best mix:
40% coco peat or sphagnum moss
30% perlite
30% orchid bark or coarse sand
You can also use a bromeliad or succulent mix.
Feed once a month during the growing season (spring to early autumn).
Use a balanced, diluted liquid fertilizer (1/4 strength).
Avoid over-fertilizing; it can dull leaf color.
Propagate via pups (offsets) that grow at the base of the mother plant.
Wait until pups are at least 1/3 the size of the mother before separating.
Plant them in a similar soil mix and keep slightly moist.
