Peperomia ‘Red Luna’ is a compact, attractive houseplant known for its
deep burgundy/red foliage. It is relatively easy to care for and is a good choice for indoor growing.
Light
- Best in bright, indirect light.
- A little gentle morning sunlight is fine.
- Avoid strong Kerala afternoon sun, which can scorch the leaves.
- More light generally helps maintain the deep red/burgundy colour.
💧 Watering — very important
Peperomias have relatively succulent leaves, so they don't like constantly wet soil.
👉 Allow the top 3–5 cm of soil to dry before watering again.
When you water:
- Water thoroughly.
- Let excess water drain completely.
- Don't leave water sitting in the saucer.
Overwatering is probably the biggest risk with this plant.
🌱 Soil
Use a very airy, fast-draining mix:
40% cocopeat
30% perlite/pumice
30% compost or good potting soil
A small pot with drainage holes is preferable to an oversized pot.
💦 Humidity
It appreciates humidity but doesn't require extremely high humidity like a Calathea.
50–70% humidity is comfortable.
Kerala's natural humidity is generally excellent for it, but ensure there is good air circulation, especially during the monsoon.
🌡️ Temperature
Ideal: roughly 18–30°C.
Keep it away from strong AC drafts.
🌱 Fertiliser
During active growth, use a balanced liquid fertiliser at half strength once every 4–6 weeks.
Don't over-fertilise—Peperomia is a relatively slow grower.
