This little philodendron beauty is not a scary boo but a gorgeous plant that will bring you joy season after season. The Philodendron Florida ghost plant is named so from its white or more transparent looking delicate leaves. Its a very rare and exotic species that is actually a lovely evergreen plant to own. Although it is a member of the Araceae plant family, it is quite different from the other near 400 variations.
Soil Mix
A well-draining and high in organic matter is suitable soil for Florida Ghost Plant. Orchid Bark, Coco Coir or Peat Moss, Coco cubes, and charcoal are the components of an organic mix. Sphagnum peat moss is also suitable for this plant because of its coarseness and aeration features. The soil pH should be around 5-8 that is slightly acidic to slightly alkaline, and sphagnum peat moss is suited since it is more neutral.
Light
Direct sunlight is not advisable for these plants since it can burn their leaves or wither up, but if you need to put it under direct sunlight, use a sheer cloth and put it behind. Rather, bright indirect sunlight is much suited, and if sunlight is not abundant in your house, you can use artificial growing lights, and it will grow perfectly fine. If you use grow lights, make sure to put your plants five inches away from them.
Watering
To keep your Philodendron Florida Ghost plant hydrated, make sure to water it once a week, or you can water it regularly if appropriate. If the soil went dry for too long, it could kill your plant, and overwatering can kill it too. A moisture meter can be accurate when watering your plant, or you can use your finger to check the moisture level and ensure that the soil is dry within 3 cm above.
Temperature
These plants grow well at regular room temperature and warmer temperatures ranging from 16 to 25 degrees Celsius. Growing these plants in colder areas and months is not suitable, but if you choose to do so, make sure to provide them the appropriate to avoid freezing the plant.

Humidity
For a healthier Philodendron Florida Ghost plant, high humidity is a must, and if you live in a dry area and plan to have these plants, misting is required every once in a while. You can use indoor humidifiers or make a pebble tray for your plant to create humidity.
Fertilizer
The best fertilizer for this plant should contain a great amount of nitrogen to guarantee a healthier plant and reach its full potential growth. Fertilizing your plant is recommended to be done once a month during summer and spring. By winter and fall, you can fertilize your plant every 6 to 8 weeks.
Propagation
The methods to propagate these plants are via stem cutting, and it is best done when they become dormant by the spring season. Cut the desired length but make sure each cutting has a node. Air layering is highly recommended if you want to have a high success rate on your propagation. You no longer need to do water, leca, perlite, or sphagnum moss propagation; just plant it directly on your preferred medium.
After cutting, place it in water, perlite, sphagnum moss, or inside a propagation box. If you live in a tropical country, you can propagate this plant all year round.
Growth
These plants can spread in length for up to 2 feet and reach up to 2 to five feet in height. When a leaf reaches its full maturity, it can grow from 12 to 16 inches in length. It is rare for these plants to produce flowers, but they can grow up to 12 inches once the flowers bloom.
Potting
Since this plant grows slowly (an average of one leaf per month per stem), there is no need to re-pot it for 2 to 3 years. The best time to re-pot is when you see that the roots are coming out of the drainage holes, and you have to re-pot them the soonest to avoid the roots from getting cramp. The rule of thumb is to get one size bigger pot for repotting.
Florida Ghost VS Florida Ghost Mint
In most garden centers, you will probably see plants sold as Florida Ghost Mint; these are the same Philodendron Florida Ghost plants but with less yellow than the pale lime leaves. The color of the leaves depends on several factors, and one of the factors is the growing conditions, light exposure, fertilizers, and more. Essentially, Florida Ghost and Florida Ghost Mint are actually the same plants.
